The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation does remarkable work in West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania. To call attention to the issues its work addresses, and to help spur further action by others, the Foundation decided that each of its annual reports would contain a major themed article.

To date, articles have focused on education, children/families, economic development, community foundations, housing, and children’s health.

The articles, some of which uncover new facts and draw new conclusions, have proved to be powerful advocacy pieces: news media and policymakers pay attention to them, and reprint requests arrive from across the country.
